SUMMARY:Raymond Roundtree Jr. Foundation Remembrance Bike Ride (Denver)
DESCRIPTION:Spin for Opioid Sensibility! \nPlease join The Raymond Rountree Jr. Foundation and The Major Taylor Cycling Club on a no-drop bike ride along the Platte River Trail to fight the battle against substance use disorder. We’ll enjoy a relaxed ride along the trail to the Hudson Gardens\, and then loop back expecting to wrap up by early afternoon. \nWe encourage you to invite others that want to enjoy the beautiful bike trails for a life-changing cause and to offer more flex for your time and riding experience\, you can select a 15-mile or 30-mile ride option. For additional convenience if you don’t have a bike of your own\, our partners at REI supply bike rentals and may have a limited supply of free rentals as available.  If you’re not a rider\, then we welcome your support by volunteering with event registration and rider guidance or by sending anonymous notes of encouragement to the applicants in the recovery program.  Plenty of options to contribute! \nWe’re requesting a $35 donation to participate as treatment costs have risen in conjunction with broader inflation issues.  We also appreciate any contributions beyond the minimum to strengthen our support efforts as new research and interactive graphics released by the Colorado Health Institute (CHI) show that 1\,477 Coloradans died of drug overdoses in 2020 — the most overdose deaths ever recorded in the state and a 38% increase from 2019.  Our collective efforts will help us reverse this concerning trend. \nCheck-in starts at 9:00 AM at REI Downtown Denver to comfortably get settled in\, and then we’ll head out at 10:00 AM for the 30-mile ride and 10:30 AM for the 15-mile ride. During the check-in period and after your ride\, we’ll also provide onsite Naloxone training by Coreen Braden with Young People in Recovery.  We look forward to seeing you there and feel free to contact us at info@sosrrjrfoundation.org or 720-996-1969 if you have any questions.  Thanks for making a difference! \nREGISTER HERE
